President
Kate Yarbrough
My name is Kate Yarbrough, and I am excited to serve as Chapter President of Mortar Board in 2021-2022. I am honored to represent this amazing organization. As a nation-wide senior honor society, Mortar Board is dedicated to honor the best and the brightest seniors on campus. I will work hard to uphold our three pillars of scholarship, leadership, and service. I am grateful for this opportunity and will work all year to promote our mission and encourage interest in future membership.
I am a proud TTU senior, and I am studying Early Childhood Education in the School of Education. I am also minoring in Public Relations. I am grateful for the many opportunities this school has given me to lead and grow. Throughout my time at Texas Tech, I have joined various organizations including the Student Government Association, Student Mobilization (STUMO), and Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Throughout my college career I have served our students at Texas Tech in many different settings. Through the Student Government Association, I have served as Journal Clerk in the executive branch, and I have also served as an At-Large Senator for all students on our campus. This coming year I am thrilled to act as Communication Chair for SGA’s Cabinet. I have also had the opportunity to serve as a student leader within Student Mobilization (STUMO), as well as serve on the education committee in my sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. All of these experiences have both shaped and prepared me for the position of President in Mortar Board.
In my free time I enjoy cooking, spending time with friends, and traveling. I treasure my family and look forward to sharing my senior year with my little brother who is a Red Raider!
As Mortar Board President, I hope to expand our chapter and allow each and every current and prospective student to learn about the organization and what it has to offer. It is an honor to lead this chapter and all the good that is done for our community through our members. I am so eager for this coming year, and to see all that will be accomplished!
